History & Goals
History & Goals
The Society was founded by a few members of the community who believed that such a large contrast of different cultures should not be un-tapped. These different cultural backgrounds could and should be used to their full for the good of the community in general in Parga.
The Society was founded in October 2007. The main objectives on starting were as follows:
1) To help find solutions for bureaucratic/cultural problems and difficulties associated with general life in Parga and Greece.
2) Plan multi cultural events e.g. Christmas Galas.
3) Create our own web site to enable quick and easy communication between the Board and its members with the outside world and to answer questions and explain about different happenings to those who are inexperienced.
4) Work in cooperation with local and national charities.
5) Research into programs available e.g. scholarships and grant money for students from all over the world. These programs are literally unknown to us and we plan to gather as much information as possible and make it available to all members.
6) Support language courses such the Greek, English and Italian courses for adults currently running.
7) Involvement in athletics on all levels.
8) A voice in the Town Hall and possibly organizing an “ombudsman” between tourists and the Town Hall.
9) Arrange seminars to promote greater awareness of general health and child/family issues.
10) Involvement with “green” issues such as recycling, garbage disposal and cleaner beaches.
11) Last but not least support for animal rights in the neighbourhood.
Over time different matters also come to our attention and we will try to address all matters in turn.
