CHILDREN’S THEATRE PRESENTATION IN PARGA

childrenstheatre200815_20081222131240On Dec. 19th and 20th, a children’s theatre presentation was held at the Community Center of Parga. The play, which was series of small sketches relating to the holiday season was called “Santa Claus Frozen”. The were approximately 38 young “thespians” from Parga , Anthousa and Agia and all attend elementary school in Parga and the surrounding areas.


The presentation was organized by Dimitra Tsovili and Talina Parlatto. Set design was done by Eleni Dimoulitsa and Aphrodite Maloukotsi, lights and sound was handled by Kosta Pitsaros. We would like to send a big bravo to all in charge and especially to the children who did a fantastic job!


Proceeds from this event are being sent to the Children’s Orphanage of Filiates.

The “Link” would like to thank Parga’s Mayor Spiridon Pigis, and Father George Kiziroglou of St. Nicholas church, Parga, for their generous donations of 100 euros each to the “Make-a-Wish” foundation. The Link will be sending 1000 euros to Make-a-Wish as a result of these donations! Thank you!!!!

Oxi day parade

Oxi Day paradeAs a syllogo (society) we were recognised by the Town Hall today and asked to take part in an important National Holiday on the Forum you can read the details of the holiday as written by the President - Oxi day parade.  It is a great honour to be asked by the town hall to commemorate this day together with Greeks and  Foreigners alike.  Well done President you represented us in the best possible way.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

All who are interested in painting the garbage bins on Sunday should contact any board member in person or via the syllogo email address.

NATURAL GAS MEETING

There will be a meeting at the Community Center (above the Health Center) to discuss the prospect of a natural gas factory being built near Parga. The meeting is at 18.00 on Wednesday, October 15th. Although the meeting is in Greek, it is important for people to attend in order to be fully informed about this subject.

JOIN US IN MAKING A CLEANER,GREENER PARGA!

On September 20th and September 21st, there will be a 2 day workshop/seminar in Parga in conjunction with the EU sponsored project

“Man-Art-Environment”.Professional artists will be conducting the following :

Saturday Sept. 20th : A seminar will be given on how to use recyclable trash to create art.This will take place in the old town hall of Parga

Above “Must” restaurant on the paralia from 11.am-2 pm.

Sunday Sept. 21st: A work shop will take place that will entail the painting of a number of the big garbage bins in an interesting and eye-pleasing way. The paints will be provided, as well as rolls and brushes. We invite everyone to attend from the ages of 10 and up! Come show us your creative side and do something good for the environment in the process! This will take place at the “Plateia Tzimas” opposite the “Zorba” restaurant on the paralia, from 10.30am-2pm.

TOWN COUNCIL MEETING REGARDING A PROPOSED NATURAL GAS FACTORY IN AGIA

There will be a town council meeting held tonight at 19.00 pm at the old dimarxeio office,  next to the real estate office by the bakery.

The main subject of tonight’s meeting is a proposal to build a large factory just outside of Agia to transport natural gas to Italy.

All are invited to attend. This is a very serious subject, and if you would like your opinion to count, now is the time!!!!!

PARGINA 2008

13/08:  21.00  An improvised sketch based on traditional Greek games entitled “Let’s Play Again”, taken from the traditional Greek “Theatre of the Shoe on the Tree”, including clowns on stilts. This will be held at Karydis Square (end of the harborfront close to Krioneri Beach).

14/08:  21.30   A concert will be held on Parga’s Panagia Island with traditional music from all over Greece.

15/08: 21.30   Celebration of the return of the Parginians to Parga, with a boat parade (varkarola) , fireworks and a concert. This will take place by the anchor and will be narrated in Greek and English. The English translation will be read by Georgina Georgiu, International Society member.

16/08 & 18/08: 21.30  The Theatre Association of Parga “Avlaia” , will present Anton Chekov’s “The Lady Who Didn’t Leave and Other Funny Stories”

At Parga’s Castle.

17/08: 21.30   Nikoletta Anastasiou and the Melodoi will present the musical DROM, which will give us all a taste of Romani music , as well as music from all over the world, to be held at Parga’s Castle.
